Hey guys. Long time, no blog. The other day I accidentally swiped my blog clean. Oops. Oh well! Fresh starts are always good! A lot has been happening these past few months. I moved, I enrolled in a new school (twice), I started a new job (twice again!) but now things are settling into some form of routine and normalcy. Today was my first (non-sick) day off after a while. I spent it in my comfiest sweater, wearing no makeup, doing a stack of trivial things from my to-do list. Here I am in my comfy sweater from Topshop, wearing my fake glasses like a douche because they make me feel studious and more productive. Oh, the power of the mind.

I just got a Kindle and rediscovered how absorbed I can get into novels. Currently re-reading George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series in anticipation of season two of Game of Thrones on HBO. Last night I wrapped up A Storm of Swords and started up A Feast for Crows today with my morning coffee. Who else is dying for April 1st??

Last month I went up to Georgetown to get my hair cut. Here’s a lame-ass shot of my it the morning after I had it done, so it’s a bit bed-heady. I hadn’t had it cut in months and months. She took about two inches off and convinced me to cut my bangs a bit thicker. Wasn’t too keen about that but I trusted her and in the end I’m glad I did. I actually want them a bit thicker! (Not to mention they’ve already grown out so much.) Since I have such a short forehead I concluded (after many, many attempts to sport them) that bangs weren’t for me. But she cut them in such a way that they’re effortless and suit my face better than I could have imagined! I haven’t had such a good cut since I was last in Japan.

My birthday was last month. I’m now 24. Aaron’s and my birthdays fall within a week of each other and this year we ended up celebrating them jointly–at home with some drinks and Aaron’s cooking. Alas I drank too much and a lot of it was a blur. LOL. We downed the bottle of tequila first and then moved on to this ginger-infused vodka that Aaron bought for me. I love ginger in everything.

Since moving in to our new place, Thomasina has found every nook and cranny to nap in. She likes to tuck herself between boxes and into corners. It’s a relief that we’re finally in an apartment that allows pets so that I could take her off my parent’s hands and spoil her, and Aaron has grown to attached to her it’s adorable.

I spent two nights in Washington D.C. recently and stayed in The Dupont Circle Hotel right on Dupont Circle. The location couldn’t be beat, the staff was professional and attentive, the lively bar was great for a solo bite to eat while watching the Dupont action through the window, and there was a Starbucks with a friendly staff right next door. Outside my window there was also a small bit of a view to be had. The short vacation or “mini-break” was great. I need to remember that even a quick overnighter to D.C. can give me a nice recharge.

At the beginning of the week we woke up to a nice snowfall. Unfortunately it didn’t last long, and is probably the last of the season, but it made the morning cheerful. Now I just have to prepare myself to trudge through the grueling, miserable summer.

Today at the market I got entranced by these weird, filled cupcakes and I couldn’t resist buying them. I always have to try these strange foods that catch my eye. It’s impulsive. I’m sure they’re deathly unhealthy but I managed to stomach one…or two. And my curiosity was sated.
